Overview

Greater Maryland Oral Surgery is looking for a Surgical - Dental Assistant in Gaithersburg, MD to assist our clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction while operating in a team-based environment.

 

Position Overview:


As a Surgical Dental Assistant you are an integral part of surgical care team, ensuring efficient procedures and patient comfort. You support the office by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, assisting in surgeries, and providing post-operative care. Your expertise in surgical protocols and infection control enhances patient safety and the overall quality of care.

 

Status: Full-Time - Monday – Friday (7-4pm Monday and Wednesday, T/TH/F 7-3pm)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare & Maintain Treatment Areas – Ensure cleanliness, sterilization, and proper setup of dental tools.
  • Assist Chairside – Provide instruments, suction, and support during procedures.
  • Educate & Support Patients – Offer guidance on oral hygiene, post-procedure care, and comfort.
  • Maintain Records & Compliance – Accurately chart services and follow infection control policies.
  • Ensure Patient Confidentiality & Safety – Adhere to HIPAA and workplace safety regulations.
  • Fabricate & Maintain Dental Appliances – Assist with temporary restorations and appliance cleaning.
  • Contribute to Team Efficiency – Support workflow, training, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program
  • 2 years on-the-job-experience
  • X-Ray certification
  • Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
