Contemporary Dentistry is seeking a Dental Billing Clerk in East Lansing, Michigan to support our clinical and administrative team ensuring accurate and timely processing of dental insurance claims, payments, and patient accounts. We are looking for detail-oriented professionals who enjoy problem-solving and are motivated to provide excellent support in a patient-focused environment.

 

Position Overview:
As a Dental Billing Clerk, you will be responsible for reviewing, submitting, and reconciling dental insurance claims, and maintaining accurate patient account records. This role plays critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement, compliance with insurance guidelines, and clear communication with patients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Review procedures coding and documentation to ensure accuracy before claim submission
  • Submit primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance claims in compliance with guidelines
  • Reconcile and post patient and insurance payments (EFT, check, or cash)
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, prepare appeals, and resubmit when necessary
  • Monitor accounts receivable, including balances owed, and coordinate with patients or collection processes as needed
  • Assist with pre-authorizations, insurance verifications, and patient responsibility estimates
  • Generate and provide daily, monthly, or as-needed billing and claims reports
  • Correct patient account errors (guarantor, demographics, insurance information)
  • Collaborate with dental providers, staff, and financial counsellors to ensure smooths patient billing experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or dental billing role (dental office preferred)
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal, CMSP, PPO, and other insurance programs a plus
  • Proficiency in dental billing software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with various dental insurance plans, couples with strong communication skills.
