Responsibilities

  • Assist the oral surgeon during procedures including extractions, implant placement, bone grafting, and biopsies 
  • Prepare the treatment room, surgical trays, instruments, and anesthesia equipment 
  • Monitor patients during surgery while maintaining sterile technique 
  • Take and process panoramic, periapical and 3D cone beam CT images as needed 
  • Provide detailed post operative instructions to patients and caregivers 
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain an OSHA compliant surgical environment 
  • Accurately record patient medical histories and surgical documentation 
  • Manage surgical supply inventory and ordering 
  • Assist with sedation monitoring (nitrous and IV) per office protocol and state guidelines 

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a dental assistant, preferably in oral surgery 

  • Proficient in surgical assisting techniques and infection control protocols 

  • Comfortable taking high quality radiographs and CBCT scans 

  • Able to anticipate procedural needs and remain calm under pressure 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and patient rapport 

  • Reliable, punctual, detail oriented, and a strong team player 

  • Dental Assistant certification or registration as a required by state law 

  • Current BLS certification a plus 

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
